    More info needed for the best answer. Do you have type 1 or 2? Do you have a history of outbreaks on your face and mouth? If you are having an outbreak, then you may be shedding virus strands from anywhere on your body that you've ever been exposed to the virus. You can have either type anywhere on your body. The symptoms just tend to be less frequent and less severe outside of the typical "home" region.
